Deputy General Director and Officer of the Doping Prevention Department from the National Anti-Doping Agency attended Regional training on education and prevention of doping in sport, organized by the Council of Europe on 18-19 May 2016 in Vilnius, Lithuania. This event brought together 22 representatives from 11 countries - Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Estonia, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Russian Federation, Ukraine. During the training it was highlighted the importance of education and information in doping prevention.
In this regard, Ms Maryam Gafar-zada, Project Manager from the Council of Europe reported the main features of the compliance with commitments under the COE Anti-Doping Convention. Mr. Tony Cunningham, Manager in the Education and NADO/RADO Relations Department from WADA provided to the participants anti-doping training materials and spoke about WADA’s role in anti-doping education. Dr. Ieva Lukošiūtė-Stanikūnienė, Director of Lithuanian Anti-Doping Agency presented “Anti-Doping Education Guidelines for Tertiary Education Institutions and Other Questions on Education”, developed by the Advisory Group on Education under the Monitoring Group of the COE Anti-Doping Convention. Speakers from Slovenia, Georgia, Finland, UK shared examples of best practices in this field. Roundtable discussions focused on communication the measures carried out by all countries in implementing educational programs and its impact and effectiveness.
By the end of the training all participants received certificates.
