Representatives of the National Anti-Doping Agency of the Republic of Moldova (ANAD) attended the International Conference "Limiting the Availability of Doping Substances in Europe: A Shared Responsibility", held on May 28, 2026, in Paris. The event was organized by the Council of Europe, in collaboration with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and other international partners from the fields of sports integrity and public health.
The event brought together representatives of public authorities, anti-doping organizations, law enforcement agencies, the pharmaceutical industry, sports organizations, and international experts from across Europe. The objective was to identify effective solutions to limit access to doping substances and to strengthen inter-institutional cooperation to protect public health and promote clean sport.
During the conference, current trends regarding the availability and use of doping substances—including in recreational sports—were analyzed, highlighting the major risks they pose to public health and the impact of the illicit production of these substances. The event aimed to raise awareness of these challenges, clarify the role of each stakeholder involved, and strengthen their commitment to the fight against doping. Furthermore, the conference provided a framework for dialogue to intensify cooperation among public authorities, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), sports organizations, and the pharmaceutical industry, promoting the exchange of best practices in public health, law enforcement, and cross-border collaboration. At the same time, participants discussed the implementation of recommendations on managing doping risks in recreational sports, the development and application of relevant administrative and criminal measures, as well as strengthening synergies between the T-DO and MEDICRIME networks and deepening cooperation with the pharmaceutical sector.
The conference program featured plenary sessions and thematic workshops dedicated to reducing the demand for doping substances, quality and supply chain control, detection and investigation activities, as well as strengthening coordination and governance in the anti-doping field.
The participation of ANAD representatives in this international event provided an excellent opportunity to exchange experiences with world-renowned experts, analyze the latest approaches in combating the phenomenon of doping, and identify new perspectives for cooperation to strengthen the national anti-doping system.
ANAD reaffirms its commitment to actively contributing to international efforts to prevent and combat doping, promoting the values of clean sport, the integrity of sports competitions, and the protection of the health of athletes and the general public.
