The National Antidoping Agency of Moldova (ANAD), in close cooperation with NADO Armenia, announces the successful completion of the training course dedicated to future Doping Control Officers (DCOs). The in-person event took place from May 22–24, 2026, with a strong operational focus throughout the three days of training.
Under the guidance of international experts Angela Sahakyan (Head of the Doping Control and Results Management Department at NADO Armenia) and Roger Sabat (cybersecurity expert at LockCon, Switzerland), the participants acquired essential theoretical knowledge and practical skills, in accordance with the World Anti-Doping Code and International Standards.
The program was structured to cover all stages of the doping control process, as follows:
Day 1: Core Duties and Athlete Notification
The role of the Doping Control Officer in the testing process was explored in depth.
Participants were trained on athlete notification procedures in compliance with ISTI standards.
Protocols for managing refusals, failures, and non-compliant behavior were analyzed.
Day 2: Sample Collection, Documentation, and Transport
The complete procedures for urine sample collection were presented.
The role of the DCO during blood sample collection sessions was established.
Trainees practiced the correct completion of Doping Control Forms (DCF).
The importance of sample security was emphasized, including sealing procedures and maintaining the chain of custody.
Instructions were provided for correctly entering testing data into the ADAMS system.
Day 3: Practical Training, Assessment, and Certification
Trainees participated in practical simulations regarding athlete notification and escorting.
Practical exercises for urine sample collection were conducted.
A full doping control mission was simulated to test real-time reactions.
The program concluded with a written test on ISTI procedures.
Finally, the closing session and the certification of qualified Doping Control Officers took place.
This initiative reflects the ongoing commitment of ANAD and NADO Armenia to strengthen institutional capacities, protect athletes' health, and promote a competitive environment based on fair play and integrity. We congratulate all the newly certified Doping Control Officers and wish them success in their future missions!
