Cooperation in drug use prevention and combating drug trafficking, as well as current trends—including the emergence of new psychoactive substances and the use of online platforms—were discussed by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Daniella Misail-Nichitin, together with the ECECACD delegation and representatives of national institutions.
Representatives of the National Anti-Doping Agency, including Director Dr. Artiom Jucov, participated in the discussions and the meeting of the National Anti-Drug Commission, alongside other responsible authorities, contributing to the analysis of the phenomenon and the establishment of intervention priorities.
The discussions focused on aligning the policies of the Republic of Moldova with European Union standards through the exchange of experience and the strengthening of inter-institutional cooperation. Increasing risks for young people were addressed, as well as new distribution methods, including those involving cryptocurrencies.
During the event, progress on the National Strategy on Drugs and Addictions for 2026–2032 was presented, which aims at prevention, early intervention, treatment, and combating trafficking, including in the online environment. At the same time, an early warning system is being developed to rapidly identify new psychoactive substances.
Authorities, including ANAD, are intensifying prevention measures in the educational environment and actions against trafficking. The goal of these efforts is to reduce risks and more effectively protect the population.
